Parks and Recreation Master Plan Get involved! Share your ideas about Parks and Recreation in Guelph/Eramosa! The Township of Guelph/Eramosa is undertaking a Parks and Recreation Master Plan to ensure that our provision and management of parks and recreation programs, facilities, and services continue to meet your needs.
Leisure opportunities play an important role in our community, allowing us to engage in physical activity and healthy lifestyles, to interact with one another, and to appreciate our natural environment. The Parks and Recreation Master Plan will focus on:
· Recreation programs and services
· Parks and open space
· Indoor and outdoor facilities (community centres, sports fields, playgrounds, etc)
· Programs, policies, and partnerships; among others
We want to hear from you to ensure that the Township’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan is truly reflective of the needs of Guelph/Eramosa. There will be a variety of ways for you to participate in the coming months, including:
· A Household Survey, which will be conducted by telephone. If your household is called, you will have the opportunity to provide input that will help us understand your parks and recreation needs and preferences. We welcome you to participate in the survey even if you are not able to participate in recreation activities as often as you would like – we still want to hear your opinion.
· Interviews will be conducted with selected organizations to obtain input regarding parks and recreation services. You may also discuss your opinions with Township Council so that they are aware of your particular issues and needs.
· Community Meetings, which will help identify, discuss, and prioritize the strengths, weakness, opportunities and challenges related to parks and recreation in Guelph/Eramosa. Through invitation, the meetings will bring together a diverse range of residents and organizations in order to create a shared vision for the future. If you are interested in attending either of the following sessions, please contact Vicki Hafner (see contact information below).
o April 19, 2012 (7 to 9 p.m.) – Marden Community Centre
o April 25, 2012 (7 to 9 p.m.) – Rockmosa Community Centre
· A Public Meeting/Open House will be held toward the end of the process (Fall 2012) to present and receive feedback pertaining to the draft recommendations of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. By attending, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, provide opinions and help create the most relevant plan possible for the Township of Guelph/Eramosa.
