Monday, December 26, 2022: Township of Guelph/Eramosa Rescinds Significant Weather Event Declaration
Township of Guelph/Eramosa – The Township of Guelph/Eramosa declared a Significant Weather Event on Friday, December 23.
A municipality can declare a Significant Weather Event when a weather hazard is approaching or occurring and has the potential to pose a significant danger to users of roads. This allowed the Township operations additional time to address the significant weather event and remain in-compliance with the Minimum Maintenance Standards regulation (Ontario Regulation 239/02 as amended).
Today, the Township rescinded its Significant Weather Event declaration for roads maintained by the Township.
Friday, December 23, 2022, 11:45 a.m.: The County of Wellington has indicated that curbside collection of waste materials is cancelled in Guelph/Eramosa. Please remove materials and containers from the curbside and hold them until next Friday's Collection day.
Friday, December 23, 2022, 10:00 a.m.: The Township of Guelph/Eramosa has declared a Significant Weather Event due to the significant snowfall and blowing snow. This is NOT an emergency declaration. A significant weather event means an approaching or occurring weather hazard with the potential to pose a significant danger to users of the highways within a municipality, therefore, travel is not recommended. If you do travel, you do so at your own risk. Please exercise extreme caution if travel is necessary. Please see formal media release.
Friday, December 23, 2022, 7:00 a.m.: Please be advised that the Municipal Office located at 8348 Wellington Road 124 is CLOSED today due to the inclement weather we are experiencing. Staff are still working remotely and may be able to assist you by phone or email, so please continue to reach out as required.
Environment Canada has issued a number of warning and watches for Ontario.
We encourage everyone to be prepared should severe weather hit our area. It is your responsibility to be prepared to take care of yourself, your family and your pets for at least 72 hours. If the need arises, the Township will open a warming centre. In Rockwood, the warming centre will be at the Rockwood Fire Hall.
The Township and County are monitoring the impending storm. Updated information will be shared as it becomes available, as best as we can. Please continue to monitor the website and social media platforms.
- Avoid unnecessary travel. Change travel plans if possible.

- Make sure you have snow tires on your vehicle.
- Give snow plows space – keep a safe distance behind a snow plow and do not attempt to pass a snow plow.
- Before you head out on the road, check Ontario 511 for Provincial Highway closures and road conditions. https://511on.ca/
- Overnight on-street parking restrictions are in effect. Vehicles in Centre Wellington are not permitted to parking on-street from 2am-6am.
- Let the sidewalk clearing machines do their job! Do not obstruct the sidewalks with your vehicle or other items such as benches, signs, landscape materials, etc.
