Parks and Recreation Master Plan

Community input is essential to this project and there are many ways that you can contribute!

We have launched an interactive project website to serve as the main hub for discussion and suggestions. By signing up on the website, you will be able to join the conversation and participate in featured polls and message boards, such as providing specific examples for improving our parks and facilities. You will also be the first to hear when public forums are scheduled.

We are also seeking your input into a community survey. This should take about 10 minutes to complete and will be active until April 30, 2023. You are encouraged to complete the survey with your family members to ensure that all voices are heard.

The Parks and Recreation Master Plan is a long-term planning document that provides guidance and the framework for future growth, development and service delivery for the Parks and Recreation Department. In 2013 Council adopted a ten-year Parks and Recreation Master Plan that was prepared in consultation with Council and through extensive public engagement. The 2013 Master Plan was used extensively over the past ten years by staff as a reference document to support the Townships position for grants, and to justify program development and capital and operational spending.

The 2023 Master Plan will help determine future needs and priorities related to park and recreation facilities and services. Community input and engagement is a vital part of the process. Residents will be able to provide their feedback through participation in online surveys and other methods of community engagement. The information collected will be considered by the consultants who are preparing the Parks and Recreation Master Plan for the Municipality, and the plan will include recommendations on future parks and recreation services across the community.

It is anticipated that the Master Plan will be completed by July of this year, and will be made available on the Township website for public viewing.
