The Township of Guelph/Eramosa is inviting residents and community members to provide feedback on new gateway sign designs for Rockwood.
Gateway signs help create a strong sense of arrival and community identity. As part of this Council-approved, budgeted project, three (3) design concepts have been developed for public consideration.
Have Your Say
Community members are encouraged to:
- Review three gateway sign design concepts
- Select their preferred design
- Provide minor, constructive feedback
Public input will help inform Council’s decision on the final design.
About the Project
The Rockwood Gateway Signs project is a Council-approved and budgeted initiative intended to create welcoming entrance features and reinforce community identity.
A total of four gateway signs are proposed at key entry points to Rockwood. Sizes and locations vary based on road context, visibility, and site constraints.
Proposed Locations and Sizes:
- Highway 7 (Alma Entrance): 6’ x 12’
- Highway 7 (Dunbar Entrance): 6’ x 12’
- Wellington Road 27: 4’ x 6’
- Harris Street: 4’ x 6’
Township staff are working to manage costs responsibly, including completing a portion of the landscaping work in-house, while ensuring the signs are durable, attractive, and reflective of Rockwood’s character. The three design concepts presented reflect these goals, along with site conditions and budget considerations.
What Feedback Can Influence
Your feedback is important and encouraged. Public input will help Council understand:
- Overall design preferences
- Community reaction to visual elements such as colour, materials, and character
- Refinements that may be feasible within the approved scope and budget
Setting Expectations
To ensure transparency, please note the following:
- This is a budgeted project with defined parameters
- Feedback is intended to focus on design preference
- While all comments are reviewed, unfortunately not all suggestions can be incorporated
- Public feedback will carry significant weight on Council's decision regarding the gateway sign design
Timeline & Next Steps
- The public survey will be open until April 30, 2026
- Township staff will summarize the results and key themes
- A report, including public feedback, will be presented to Council
- Following Council’s decision, a “What We Heard” summary and next steps will be shared on the Township website
Thank You
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and help shape Rockwood’s gateways. Community input plays an important role in building welcoming and meaningful public spaces.
