When can my election signs go out?

As per the Guelph/Eramosa Township By-law, candidates' signs can not be put up until 6 weeks before the municipal election,  for this year's election the first date signs can be put out is September 14, 2026, other key dates can also be found here

When is the campaign period?

A candidate can start campaigning during the nomination period (began May 1), however, they cannot spend any monetary amounts on their campaign until their nomination papers have been filed and a candidate can campaign until election day (October 26, 2026). 

When will voter kits be mailed out?

Voter its will not be mailed out until the final week of September, 2026: exact dates will be confirmed closer to September, other key dates can also be found here

Can I run as a Candidate if I work in government?

Yes, so long as you do not work for the government you are running for. 

What forms do I need to have completed to file my nomination?

In advance of your nomination filing, form 2 in the Guelph Eramosa Township Nomination Package must be filled out, a nomination package can be picked up at the township office located in Rockwood, or digital copies can be found here

Can I use family members as signatures for my nomination filing?

Yes, as long as they are eligible to vote as per the guidelines set by the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, S.O. 1996, c. 32

How many signatures do I need to file a nomination?

Each candidate must have 25 signatures to file their nomination (this is form 2 in the Guelph/Eramosa Nomination Package), however, we always recommend having more
